Amazing Response to the Golden Anniversary Chronic
1952 Rag Queen Attendant Located in South Africa

An E-mail from Shirley and Roy Branch - Port Elizabeth, SOUTH AFRICA. - July 2002.

The latest issue of 'The Chronic' arrived on the doorstep in Port Elizabeth and my husband and I especially enjoyed reading the section on the first Rag Day in 1952. My husband E.J Branch 1945 intake knows the whereabouts of Shirley Walker - 1950 intake (seated behind the driver). He should do - he is married to her!! And has been for the past 49 years, at least it will be 49 years on 10th October this year.

We have had a really good life together and now have 7 children and 9 grandchildren. Later we settled in Port Elizabeth RSA after moving to what was then Southern Rhodesia in 1956, then back to England (RAE Bedford) for a couple of years, and finally here.

I have attached two photos and wonder if anyone can refresh our memory as to the names of the two young men who flank myself and Bruno Mair in the right hand photo below taken as we were on the way to the Rag Ball??

Please click here for more detailed pictures.

We would love to hear from anyone out there in the world who knew us at Farnborough or Bedford and can be contacted by email at:- shiroy@iafrica.com or through Bruce Legg - Hon Sec of the Association.
